Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Belotero, have become popular treatments to reverse the signs of aging and rejuvenate the face. Appropriate for all adult patients, these facial fillers are often used in and around the lips, otherwise known as the smile lines or nasolabial folds. Hyaluronic acid fillers can also improve lower eyelid bags, thus avoiding plastic surgery. Facial fillers treat wrinkles by filling or plumping up the “valley” of the wrinkle and adding volume.

However, the forehead is not a a common treatment area for hyaluronic acid fillers. The horizontal wrinkles of the forehead are by far best treated treated with Botox or similar products, such as Dysport or Xeomin. Botox helps relax the muscles contributing to the forehead wrinkles. Fillers don’t often create as smooth a result as compared to Botox and its alternatives.

Speak with a plastic surgeon or dermatologist to determine appropriate options for your forehead wrinkles. Most likely, Botox and its alternatives (Dysport or Xeomin), will be the first and best option for you. Please share your thoughts below.
