I was just sent this article on a patient I had treated. It’s a reminder of the poor quality and bureaucracy of health insurance in the United States.
Physicians are fighting everyday to get health care covered for their patients, whether it is tests, medications, specialist referrals, or surgical procedures. My office and I call insurance providers regularly to try to get patients the care they require. This constant struggle is frustrating for patient and physician, and not what I expected when in medical school.
