Asian Eyelid Surgery Before & After Case 184
Before & After
Case Details
Upper eyelid surgery (i.e. blepharoplasty) is tremendously popular worldwide, but especially popular in central and east Asian countries. The terms double eyelid surgery or Asian blepharoplasty refer to an upper eyelid surgery that creates or defines a crease in the upper eyelid, which normally isn't present.
Washington DC eyelid surgery patients have various options for Asian blepharoplasty, including suture, non-incisional, and traditional blepharoplasty. Each eyelid is unique, and the eyelid cosmetic surgeon tailors the procedure to the desires of the patient by varying the eyelid fold size, position, and shape. Westernization blepharoplasty is an inaccurate and old term, as most patients want to maintain their Asian ethnicity.
This patient is from Japan and already had a double eyelid procedure in the U.S. in another plastic surgery practice years ago. They weren't satisfied with those results, complaining of multiple eyelid folds, excess skin, and asymmetry. Examination reveals excess skin and a high crease, which is more unnatural in Asian patients. Generally, both ethnic Asians and men have lower creases. Reviewing eyelid surgery options with Dr. Chaboki, the chose revision eyelid surgery of both eyelids with incision technique. The procedure was performed with local anesthesia and light IV sedation. The creases were brought lower and made more symmetric, using the existing scars. After results are a couple months after plastic surgery, and the pink scars continue to fade with time in the healing process. The eyelid crease now maintains the patient's desired position, height, and symmetry. The patient was very happy with revision blepharoplasty results with Dr. Chaboki.
