Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) Before & After Case 21
Before & After
Case Details
Upper eyelid surgery is a popular cosmetic procedure in Asian countries. Double-eyelid surgery or Asian blepharoplasty are terms for this upper eyelid surgery. In Washington, various minimally invasive techniques are available for Asian blepharoplasty, including suture, non-incisional, and traditional blepharoplasty. Each patient is unique, and the eyelid plastic surgeon can tailor the surgery to the desires of the patient by varying the fold size, position, and shape. The older term of Westernization blepharoplasty is inaccurate, as most Asian patients want to maintain their ethnicity but desire improvement by creating a crease in the upper eyelid. Patients may even tape or apply temporary glue to the eyelid skin to create a fold.
This Washington DC woman already had a double-eyelid procedure in China several months prior to seeing Dr. Chaboki. She had a suture technique in China, which was performed without an incision. Unfortunately, the suture failed and the right eyelid fold was lost with scarring. Reviewing plastic surgery options with Dr. Chaboki, she chose revision eyelid surgery with traditional blepharoplasty technique of the right eyelid. The procedure was performed with local anesthesia and light IV sedation. No skin or fat was removed, unlike cosmetic eyelid surgery for aging and facial rejuvenation. She had minimal down-time & returned to work soon after plastic surgery. The eyelid crease now maintains its desired position, and she is very pleased with her results.
