Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) Before & After Case 178
Before & After
Case Details
Women still outnumber men in plastic surgery offices. However, cosmetic surgery has become more popular in men, as it has become more acceptable. This growth in the male aesthetic surgery comes from men in all areas of life and not isolated to specific groups.
The eyes are a popular area that men look for cosmetic improvement. The aesthetic options for men are similar to women, but plastic surgeons are more conservative to ensure a natural appearance. Plastic surgeons still evaluate the fat, skin, muscle, and bone to determine appropriate treatment options. Plastic surgery of the eyes may involve the following:
- brow lift to rejuvenate the upper eye and forehead areas
- blepharoplasty (i.e. eyelid surgery) to reduce excess skin and fat of the upper and/or lower eyes
- facial fat transfer to rejuvenate the lower eyelid and cheek junction
Excess skin around the eyes develop gradually in everyone to varying degrees. Only eyelid surgery can remove this excess skin for a rejuvenated appearance. Upper blepharoplasty reduces excess skin which can make the eyes appear more open and less heavy.
This gentleman developed excess upper eyelid skin and a droopy brow with time. He had considered upper blepharoplasty and brow lift for several years but was concerned about potential scars, given his natural male-pattern baldness. He consulted with cosmetic facial surgeon Dr. Chaboki in his downtown Washington DC office to review aesthetic options.
He had upper eyelid surgery in the office via awake, local anesthesia. This type of eye lift is often performed in the office. Dr. Chaboki is able to perform various cosmetic facial procedures with similar local anesthesia per patient request, such as a mini facelift. One can return to work soon after eyelid surgery, and these after blepharoplasty photographs are a few months from surgery.
