Chin Augmentation Before & After Case 187
Before & After
Case Details
A weak chin is commonly seen in a plastic surgery office. Often patients with a weak chin have had prior dental braces, wisdom teeth extraction, an over bite, or similar dental history. A disproportionately small chin can also affect the appearance of other facial features, such as the neck, cheeks, and nose.
Chin augmentation, either by facial fillers or an implant, are the two primary methods to address a weak chin. Bone surgery is less common, but an appropriate option in certain patients. Office facial filler injections (ex. Juvederm®) provide more subtle improvement with results lasting several months. Chin implant surgery provides permanent results, which is by far the most popular choice for chin augmentation candidates. Silicone chin implants come in a range of sizes and shapes (ex. square, curvilinear).
This Washington DC gentleman sought Dr. Chaboki's expertise, as a facial plastic surgeon, to review chin augmentation options. Office consultation before surgery allowed him to visualize potential surgical results via computer simulation. He underwent chin augmentation with a silicone implant without neck liposuction (curvilinear, extra large). The implant improved the chin and neck.
