Facial Sculpting Before & After Case 140
Before & After
Case Details
A chin that is small relative to other facials areas may contribute to facial disharmony and bring disproportionate attention to specific facial areas. For example, while most patients feel their chin is too small, some patients may rather come to a plastic surgeon's office for a "big" nose or "fat" neck (ie. double chin or submental fullness).
A weak chin can be treated with chin augmentation via a silicone implant or facial filler (ex. Juvederm®). In addition to being permanent, the other benefit of a silicone chin implant is that it offers three dimensional augmentation that non-surgical options do not provide. Silicone is the most popular material for chin implants, which come in several shapes and sizes.
This Washington DC patient had considered chin augmentation since a teenager, but was apprehensive of cosmetic surgery. Throughout the years, the patient developed a variety of methods to "hide" the disproportionate size of the lower third of the face. After reading positive online reviews for chin augmentation by Dr. Chaboki, the patient came for office consultation. Dr. Chaboki showed a variety of implant sizes and via computer simulation, the patient was able to anticipate postoperative results with chin surgery.
The patient underwent chin augmentation with an extra large silicone implant to improve the appearance. The size of the implant is a mutual decision between patient and plastic surgeon, as there isn't a "best" size. Chin augmentation with silicone implant surgery is a quick outpatient procedure performed with an incision hidden under the chin. The patient reported improved confidence too from the overall improved appearance!
