Facial Sculpting Before & After Case 156
Before & After
Case Details
A double chin, otherwise known as submental fullness, has different etiologies. Skin, muscle, fat, bone, and glands all contribute to the appearance of the neck and jawline. Some patients have sagging, loose skin that give the appearance of "turkey neck". Other patients may have excess neck fat giving a double chin.
Consultation with a facial plastic surgeon can help determine appropriate treatment options for a double chin
A double chin from a small chin is typically augmented with a silicone implant. In addition to being permanent, the other benefit of a silicone chin implant is that it offers three dimensional augmentation that facial filler injections do not provide.
Neck fat can be treated primarily by two methods: liposuction or Kybella. We've reviewed the difference between these two treatments in a previous blog post.
This Washington DC patient had considered treatment for a double chin for years, but was uncertain of the "best" option. Dr. Chaboki showed potential results with chin implant surgery and/or liposuction via computer simulation. The consultation allowed her to make the "best" decision for herself.
The patient had chin augmentation with a large silicone implant with neck liposuction to improve the appearance of her double chin. Implant size is determined via consultation between patient and plastic surgeon. The patient loves the natural results of her improved neck and jawline.
