Case Details
Many Washington plastic surgery patients complain of a small chin. A small chin may also make the neck or lower cheeks look fatter. In addition, patients with small chins will have underdeveloped lower jaw bone and often have a history of wisdom teeth extractions.
A small chin improves with augmentation by a silicone implant or facial filler (ex. Juvederm®), the two most popular methods of enhancing the chin. Chin implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes, which can be further modified as necessary. While plastic surgeons offer a variety methods to improve the chin, one benefit of silicone chin implant surgery is that it has minimal downtime and may be combined with other procedures, such as buccal fat reduction or neck liposuction.
This Washington DC patient always had a small chin, but developed more neck fat and sagging tissue with age, which accentuated a “double chin”. He researched a variety of cosmetic procedures to improve the chin and jawline. After seeing all the positive plastic surgery reviews, he had a cosmetic surgery consultation with Dr. Chaboki. Cosmetic consultation allowed him to visualize potential aesthetic surgery results via computer simulation and “test try” a variety of chin implants beforehand. The patient underwent chin augmentation with a silicone implant and neck liposuction. Not only is the chin and jawline more proportionate, but the neck has also been lifted with liposuction. Chin implant surgery is performed with an incision hidden under the chin and using dissolving sutures.
