Rhinoplasty - Cosmetic Before & After Case 106
Before & After
Case Details
Washington DC rhinoplasty patients often request to make their nose smaller. However, some patients will ask to make the nose larger by building the bridge. Cartilage is normally used on top of the nose to improve the profile. Cartilage for rhinoplasty is taken from the nose, ear, or rib.
This woman had a severe nasal injury which flattened her nose and created scars, and subsequently, she lost the projection of her bridge. She consulted with facial cosmetic surgeon Dr. Chaboki to review rhinoplasty options. She previously had septoplasty surgery years ago and did not have sufficient cartilage inside her nose to rebuild the bridge. Via a closed rhinoplasty, Dr. Chaboki used cartilage from the patient's ear to augment the bridge, and the ear maintains its shape when used as a cartilage source. Her nose is now more proportionate, especially appreciated on profile view.
