Rhinoplasty - Cosmetic Before & After Case 143
Before & After
Case Details
Septoplasty helps straighten a deviated septum and improves the nasal passages. While commonly performed together, a septoplasty does not always need be performed at the same time as rhinoplasty surgery. Each rhinoplasty is unique for each person, and the plastic surgeon will tailor the nasal surgery to the patient's individual anatomy and preferences.
This Washington DC woman wanted subtle improvement of a nasal bump and narrowing of the wide nasal bridge. She had a slightly deviated septum, which was determined upon internal nasal examination, but no nasal symptoms of congestion. After consultation with Dr. Chaboki and computer simulation, she decided to have endonasal rhinoplasty without septoplasty. Her nasal bump was reduced and nasal bones thinned for a more feminine appearance, while still looking like herself. As with many rhinoplasty patients, she wanted an improved nose, not necessarily a very "different" nose.
In addition, her nasal breathing is still very good after rhinoplasty. Dr. Chaboki was able to make her external nose smaller without compromising her nasal passages. For those patients with a deviated septum and nasal symptoms of blockage or congestion, Dr. Chaboki may suggest septoplasty with rhinoplasty to improve both the appearance and function of the nose.
