Rhinoplasty - Cosmetic Before & After Case 185
Case Details
Washington DC rhinoplasty patients often want to look and breath better. Many Washingtonians suffer from chronic nasal allergies with symptoms of nasal congestion and blockage. They seek rhinoplasty to improve their allergy symptoms, but also want the nose to look better too.
This young woman was looking to have rhinoplasty to reduce a bump and elevate the tip of her nose. She was referred to facial plastic surgeon Dr. Chaboki to review plastic surgery options. Examination revealed bony and cartilaginous irregularity on the bridge and a droopy tip. She also had dynamic collapse of the nostrils upon normal inhalation (not visualized in these photographs).
She underwent a "closed rhinoplasty", thus avoiding an external scar between the nostrils. Dr. Chaboki used her own cartilage from the nasal septum to help elevate the droopy tip and reduce the dynamic pinching of the nostrils during breathing. Cartilage grafts allow the tip to be better supported. For this patient, osteotomies (i.e. bone reshaping) were performed as part of nasal hump reduction.
Postoperative photographs are approximately three months after rhinoplasty surgery, which demonstrate her natural improvement. The nose continues to become more refined with time as swelling gradually resolves over several months. She's very happy with both her cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty results.
Washingtonians want a balanced nose that works well and fits the face. Dr. Chaboki may suggest septoplasty, nasal valve repair, turbinate reduction, and/or endoscopic sinus surgery as appropriate to improve nasal function for appropriate candidates during the rhinoplasty consultation.
