Rhinoplasty - Cosmetic Before & After Case 207
Case Details
Rhinoplasty surgery often treats both the internal and external aspects of the nose. While many live in Washington DC, patients travel from all over to our Washington DC plastic surgery office to visit Dr. Chaboki in order to improve both the form and function of their nose.
Patients may complain of chronic nasal congestion due to a deviated septum or chronic sinus allergies. Some may have had a prior nasal injury or broken nose. A majority of rhinoplasty patients want to improve their profile, ex. reduce a bump and/or lift a droopy nasal tip.
One benefit of combination rhinoplasty and septoplasty surgery is that cartilage modified from a deviated septum may be used for graft material to reshape the nose during the cosmetic rhinoplasty. Instead of having two separate procedures performed by different surgeons at separate times, patients enjoy the convenience of one operation to manage multiple aspects of the nose and sinuses.
This Washington DC patient had chronic nasal congestion, which did not improve with antihistamines and nasal sprays. Prior nasal injuries contributed to a deviated nasal septum. The patient visited prior sinus specialists and plastic surgeons over the years. Consultation with Dr. Chaboki allowed the patient to review potential surgical rhinoplasty options to improve the appearance of the nose. Examination revealed a deviated nasal septum, nasal bump, and droopy tip. The nasal tip dipped further with smiling, which is a common issue in rhinoplasty patients.
The patient underwent a closed rhinoplasty by Dr. Chaboki, in addition to septoplasty and turbinate reduction. Osteotomy (bone reshaping) was required for this particular patient, which is frequently performed when reducing a bump. Cartilage grafts from the nasal septum were used to improve and elevate the nasal tip. Read more about rhinoplasty in our blog:
After photographs are approximately seven months after plastic surgery. The patient appears as an improved version of themselves, which provides natural results. The nose was improved on both the outside and inside. The appearance of the nose will continue to be refined as the rhinoplasty swelling resolves. Plastic surgeons generally advise that it takes several months to a year or longer for "final" results. The patient has referred friends and family to Dr. Chaboki for his expertise in facial plastic surgery.
Individual results and experiences will vary. We're honored and greatly appreciate the opportunity to help those considering plastic surgery. Dr. Chaboki performs all types of rhinoplasty procedures. He most commonly utilizes a closed approach for nasal surgery, which avoids an external scar.
