Rhinoplasty - Cosmetic Before & After Case 267
Before & After
Case Details
Many plastic surgeons perform open rhinoplasty, where an external scar is placed to modify the nose. Fewer rhinoplasty surgeons perform a closed or “scarless” rhinoplasty. This closed approach avoids the external scar and typically results in a shorter operation and quicker recovery.
This woman was referred to Dr. Chaboki by her nasal surgeon for his expertise in closed, “scarless” rhinoplasty. She suffered multiple nasal injuries from sports, which resulted in a deviated nose and septum, alone with a dorsal hump. She wanted a straighter nose on front view and side view, along with improved breathing.
Examination revealed bony and cartilaginous irregularity on the bridge and an unstable tip. In addition, the nasal passages were blocked from a severe deviated septum. Dr. Chaboki used the patient's own cartilage from the nasal septum to help stabilize the tip and improve symmetry, otherwise known as an osteotomy (bone reshaping).
Postoperative photographs are approximately 6 months after closed rhinoplasty, which demonstrate the natural improvement. She's very happy with both the cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty results.
