Rhinoplasty - Cosmetic Before & After Case 98
Before & After
Case Details
A deviated septum may be congenital or from prior injury. Patients with a deviated septum may have symptoms of congestion or nasal blockage. Treatment consists of allergy medications, nasal surgery with septoplasty, or both. Washington DC and Virginia septoplasty patients often feel more nasal obstruction during spring or fall seasons.
This Washington DC area woman had a deviated septum from a major nasal injury, which also resulted in scarring and narrowing of her right nostril. Medications alone would not improve her physical nasal blockage, and she required nasal surgery to open up the nasal passages. She consulted with Dr. Chaboki, a board certified facial plastic surgeon, to review treatment options. She underwent septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and rhinoplasty to open up the nostril. Scar revision was performed and cartilage grafts were placed around the nostril to help improve symmetry and open her nasal passages. Her nasal allergy symptoms have greatly improved and her nose appears more balanced.
