Rhinoplasty - Medical Before & After Case 103
Before & After
Case Details
Chronic nasal congestion affects many Washingtonians, from factors such as a deviated septum or nasal allergies. While many patients may find relief with allergy medication or saline medication, some Washington DC area patients need plastic surgery of the nose to open the nasal passages. Septoplasty and/or rhinoplasty surgery modifies the bone and cartilage of the nose to improve both the function and appearance of the nose.
This DC area woman had no improvement of her nasal congestion and sinus symptoms with allergy medication. She also had sustained sports nasal injuries years ago which made her nose more twisted. She consulted with DC rhinoplasty surgeon Dr. Chaboki to review surgical options. Examination revealed a deviated nasal septum, swollen turbinates, and collapse of the nasal valve. She underwent nasal repair with a closed septorhinoplasty to help straighten the septum. Osteotomies (bone reshaping) and cartilage grafts were required to improve both the function and appearance of the nose. Her nasal breathing has improved and the nose has improved symmetry. She looks like herself with natural results.
