Rhinoplasty - Medical Before & After Case 115
Before & After
Case Details
Asymmetrical noses are common in Washington DC area patients seeking rhinoplasty. A twisted or deviated nose may occur naturally during nasal development or from prior trauma. Patients who have a deviated septum may have both external and internal asymmetries and subsequent nasal blockage.
This person had multiple nasal injuries from sports and had initially consulted other DC area surgeons for rhinoplasty before finally seeing Dr. Chaboki. Physical examination revealed a severely twisted nose and scarring from prior injuries. While the external nose deviated to the patient's right side, the inside was completely blocked on the left side from bone and cartilage which added to the complexity. Dr. Chaboki provided realistic expectations, as perfect symmetry cannot be achieved in such complex rhinoplasty surgeries. Dr. Chaboki performed a closed septorhinoplasty to improve both appearance and breathing, while keeping the patient looking like himself. Despite the significant bone reshaping his surgery required, he reported minimal discomfort during recovery and returned to work very soon. The patient was very satisfied with the natural appearance and greatly improved nasal breathing.
