Rhinoplasty - Medical Before & After Case 146
Before & After
Case Details
Improving nasal symmetry is a common request for those Washington DC rhinoplasty patients with a deviated septum. The nasal septum divides the nose into right and left chambers and is often deviated or twisted to various degrees. A deviated nasal septum occurs naturally, but it may also be the result of a broken nose. Patients with a deviated septum may complain of a variety of sinus symptoms, such as nasal congestion, chronic sinus pressure, allergies, and chronic sinusitis.
This Washington DC rhinoplasty patient had a significantly deviated septum which twisted her nose to one side. She also had chronic sinus problems, partially due to a deviated septum. She consulted a variety of plastic surgeons and was referred to Dr. Chaboki for his professional opinion. Cosmetic consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon allowed her to visualize various surgical approaches and techniques. Via a closed rhinoplasty (i.e. no external incisions), the nasal bones were made straighter, the nasal hump was reduced, and the excess droopy tip was lifted. Post-operative photographs several months after plastic surgery show the nostril and tip asymmetry also improved. Her quality of life has greatly improved by enhancing both the form and function of the nose with natural results.
