Rhinoplasty - Medical Before & After Case 54
Before & After
Case Details
A droopy tip is one of the most common reasons patients seek rhinoplasty, cosmetic surgery of the nose. The tip of the nose consists mostly of skin and cartilage. The shape, size, strength, and position of this nasal cartilage are primary factors contributing to the shape. Skin thickness also plays an important role, as patients with thicker skin tend have a droopy tip.
A droopy tip can be managed multiple ways, but usually reshaping cartilage is commonly required to create tip definition. This Washington area woman disliked her droopy tip, which was exaggerated when she smiled. In addition, she had chronic nasal congestion and blocked breathing through her nose from a deviated septum and swollen turbinates. She wanted conservative changes to create a more balanced nose and narrowed tip. After consultation with rhinoplasty specialist Dr. Chaboki, she chose to combine the cosmetic rhinoplasty in combination with septoplasty and turbinate reduction. Cartilage from the septoplasty procedure was used to reshape the tip. Her nasal tip is no longer droopy, while still maintaining a natural result.
