Rhinoplasty - Medical Before & After Case 64
Before & After
Case Details
A nasal hump or bump develops gradually with normal facial growth to varying degrees. The bump is generally centered at the bone-cartilage junction near the bridge. Most patients request to reduce the bump with rhinoplasty to create a straight profile. Some patients prefer to maintain their bump while even fewer request a more "scooped" appearance.
This Washington area rhinoplasty patient had a long-standing deviated septum that contributed to her nasal congestion. She always considered nasal surgery to improve the appearance of her nose, but was concerned about an unnatural result. She suffered a broken nose as an adult. With a comprehensive consultation with facial plastic surgeon Dr. Chaboki, she was able to comfortably review her surgical options to both improve her chronic nasal congestion and improve the nasal appearance. She underwent a "closed" rhinoplasty to reshape the cartilage and bone of both the external and internal nose structures. The bump was reduced, the nasal tip narrowed and lifted, and the septum straightened. Her natural results from the rhinoplasty were combined with the functional improvement from the septoplasty. The nose is now better balanced with her face and does not draw attention.
